Baseball is a typically a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, each consisting of nine players who take turns of nine players each who take rotations for batting and fielding. Baseball has grown from older bat-and-ball games, which was originally played in England.
The offense makes efforts to achieve runs by hitting a ball with a bat swung by batter which is thrown by the pitcher and then run counter-clockwise around a series of four bases; first, second, third and home plate. When a player runs around all of the bases and returns to home plate, then only a run is scored. A square is formed by all the bases around the field and the starting base is known as home plate which has five sides. Right side of field has First Base, top of the infield has second base, left side of field has third base and back of the field has home plate , where the catcher plays.
Batting team players take turns hitting against the pitcher of fielding team whose job is to put a stop to runs by getting hitters out of way in any way. There is switching between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team knock out three batters. The whole sport comprises of nine innings and at the end of the game, whichever team scores maximum runs wins the game.
Prominent players like, Agnes Allen, Ian Kinsler, Adam Dunn, Kevin Youkilis, Albert Pujols have always made America proud.
